Touched by the Sound Waves of Hope

  • On the opening night of our Light of Hope meetings in the city of Chernivtsi, Ukraine, I met an elderly man who was waiting for me outside of the church. He knew that we did not have much time to talk so he was trying to find the right words to relate his story in just a few minutes. During the Soviet regime, Gregory, that was his name, worked at the office of a local communist party. He had a strong conviction in the right cause of the atheistic government suppressing and persecuting believers in God. In the early 90s, after the fall of communism, Gregory lost any will to live; everything he believed in collapsed. Until one Saturday night when he turned on his radio and listened to a Voice of Hope program. He started taking correspondence Bible studies and soon after that joined the Seventh-day Adventist church. He wanted me to see how one person's life was changed as a result of our radio ministry. Then he turned to a group of teenagers and introduced them to me as his grandchildren. There were at least six or seven of them. Now, Gregory said, I brought them here because I want them also to hear the Word of God!

Every night of the meetings among the hundreds of people I could see my new young friends with Bibles and study guides in their hands. They were coming to find the truth that will never collapse!

Your partnership with the Light of Hope and your generous support of this ministry is leadings thousands to the knowledge of the soon Second Coming of our Savior. I met them in Kiev, in Vinnitsa, in Chernigov, in Moscow and many other cities across the countries of the former Soviet Union. They are different people now, because they found the blessed hope that changed Gregory's life.
